Automating Compliance Is Priority in Year Two of Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance

Automating Compliance Is Priority in Year Two of Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance.

So, Sarbannes-Oxley compliance finally met automation. In a recent CFO Research Services survey senior finance executives say that automating compliance and control environments is a priority in year two of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance - over 75% of respondents said automation of their compliance and control environments is a top or moderate priority over the next 12 months.

Why is this? Well clearly reducing the total cost of compliance continues to be a goal and automation is increasinly seen as a way to deliver compliance at reasonable cost. I wrote an article on this topic some time ago - Playing by the (Business) Rules - where I outline the case for using a business rules approach to automate compliance. Nice to see that folks are coming out from under the initial frantic rush to implement SOx and starting to think more strategically about it.
