One of the great things about using business rules to power decisioning as part of your application architecture is that it allows you to constantly refine how you take decisions. When you read about technology like Data Spiders, part of an ongoing stream of analytic innovation, one of the key "yes buts" is thinking about how to implement its results. If you have built a decisioning component infrastructure and designed decision management applications into your overall systems architecture then it is much easier. The new analytics provides a new kind of model or new rules to load into your decisioning components but nothing else needs to change. The new analytics just make your systems smarter.
