Healthcare needs predictive analytics, and EDM, more and more

Saw this article - Predictive Analytics and the New World of Retail Healthcare - in Health Management Technology. A great summary of the value of predictive analytics to the changing healthcare insurance market.

Interestingly this is also a market that is using business rules more and more to automate decisions like enrollment and claims processing and the combination of rules-driven decision automation and predictive analytics to better target these decisions is very powerful. Of course this is the basic premise of Enterprise Decision Management - that the use of analytics to enhance decision-making is particularly great once those decisions are automated.

There's some more on this in the healthcare section of the blog.
