Great article on becoming a predictive enterprise

Some folks at Oracle wrote a nice piece in DM Review recently on Engineering the Predictive Enterprise. They make some great points and give some good advice.

One interesting angle that I think they miss is the integration of predictive analytics into processes through the use of business rules as a platform.  I think this is a very effective approach for many and allows you to mix and match the level of judgment v data-driven decisioning in your processes. This also matches well with the concept of a "Decision Service" being promoted by Oracle's BPEL folks.

The other comment I might make is that you don't need a 360 degree view to use analytics effectively. It helps to have it and will improve your analytics, but if all you have is an account-level view say (rather than a customer-level view), analytics on that can still help a lot.
